The Common People festival have announced the line up of their Day of the Dead Cocktail bus! The line up is a mix of Portsmouth and Southampton’s finest House, Disco and Dub selectors hosted by The Astoria, and we have been lucky enough to be given sets both days Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th, spinning our fine all 45s blend of raw funk, soul disco and boogie and rare grooves of yesteryear.

BBC Radio 1 Dj and record collector, Trevor Nelson was in Southampton last weekend and we were asked to open up the show! It was fantastic to spin the little records and kicking of the gig in style.  His set was cool, lots of rare grooves in the mix! We really appreciate him having respect for 45s and acknowledging what we do here in Southampton. Big thanks to The 1865 for asking us to do a set, it’s a top venue – Great staff, nice people! It’s one of the best systems in town we have ever played on. Make sure you catch a gig there soon.‪#‎southampton‬ ‪#‎vinylonly‬ ‪#‎45s‬

This Saturday night we’re back at the Alex for more funk and soul goodness - Our special guest this month is none other than Southampton Soul Club founder and heavyweight record collector, Alfie Linney. Host of the biggest annual Soul All-Dayers at the Empire Hall in Totton, resident dj for the Isle Of Wight scooter rally nights and always in high demand playing at some of the south coast’s best soul events. Alfie helped us launch the very first SOUL 45 in 2011 and we’re very pleased have him spin for us once again. Expect some uptempo Northern Soul skakers and some real funky records from his collection to get you dancing.

We headed down to SUSU this week for Scarlett’s Doo-Wop to Northern Soul Show on to do a little spon on the uni’s student radio station. What started off as a small  pirate radio station in the 70s is now a fully operational, broadcasting across whole university and the city which was cool to see. Massive thanks to Scarlett May O’Malley who invited us to come in for a chat and play some records, she has been to plenty of SOUL 45 parties over the years and has been incredibly supportive of what we do. Of course we’re very pleased that she now has her own show to play the music she loves.

Make sure you give her a listen every Wednesday night 8-9pm
